Underground Ministry of Culture (UMC)
is a russian music agency based in the Sixteen Tons club, the prominent Moscow venue. Throughout the partnership between UMC and the Club, it has
hosted concerts and gigs of such acclaimed artists as Goldie, Sneaker Pimps, Stereolab,
Mathew Herbert, Télépopmusik and Mogwai. Such an engagement in Moscow music industry led
to the fact that the Sixteen Tons Club was granted the Night Life Award in 2002 the most
prestigious award in the field as the Best Concert Venue. UMC also collaborated with
other respectable venues in town, such as the Central House of Entrepreneurs (the
Cinematic Orchestra, 2003), The Hermitage Garden (Scissor Sisters), Mechanika Club
(Nokialab with Electric 6, Plaid; Front 242), Apelsin Club (Mogwai).
The special prides of the UMC Music Agency
have been concerts of the world-wide famous artists and bands, such as The White Stripes,
Front 242 and Scissor Sisters. It is also a co-organizer of the best brand name parties
in the middle of 2000s: presentation of Audi-A4 with the concert of IAMX (2005), Nokialab
(2004, 2005), Scissor Sisters concert supported by Chesterfield and Bacardi. The
Underground Ministry of Culture today is an independent music agency that can boast of
worthy reputation, approved technologies and contacts with representatives of the Western
music and entertainment industry.
The choice of an artist by UMC is based on its own intuition and taste. UMC follows flexible music strategy that allows it to invite both legendary acts of the
contemporaneity and less known but cunning original musicians. UMC is also known for its
skill to select the most adequate musical support for corporate events and create the
festive atmosphere that makes the day memorable and exceptional.
